Please call or email us to receive your ftp information and upload your file to our server.
Include your name, phone number, email address, file name, size and type.
- Hard copy/proof
Include a letter or tabloid print reproduction (color where applicable) of your job. - Fonts
Load all screen and printer fonts used in your file — even those used in imported or linked graphic files. - Graphic Files
Always include the final version of all placed or linked graphics used in your job. Either link or update the final graphics in your layout program. Save TIF files in RGB mode and EPS files in CMYK mode.
Resolution for different printers:
Large format (poster) printers: “Ultimate” - final scaled image resolution should be between 150-200 dpi at 100% of final printed size. Output is perceived 1200 dpi. Excessively high resolution will not increase output quality, but will radically add to the printing time (if it even prints at all).
Images reduce in resolution when you enlarge them. For example, a 100 dpi image when scaled by 200% will drop to 50 dpi resolution.
“Lambda” - final scaled image resolution should be 200 dpi at 100% of final printed size. Format is JPEG RGB at quality 8. Output is perceived 4000 dpi i.e. photographic-quality paper or duratran (backlit) prints.
Color Matching:
If you use Pantone Matching System (PMS) or Trumatch colors we can usually reproduce them accurately. We cannot guarantee to match every color. Please refer to our color agreement.
- Preparing an electronic file
Please utilize the functions in QuarkXpress (Collect for output) when you have finalized your job.
- Desktop print-out/Directory of disk
A print-out listing the file contents of your job ready for Exhibit Warehouse will serve as an identification label for your output disk.
How To Eliminate Large Output Problems
~ Never assume that:
- the paper size is equal to the actual printable area
- the color you see on your monitor will match Exhibit Warehouse printed output
- the color output from your printer will match Exhibit Warehouse output
- compressed graphic files will output consistently well
- Exhibit Warehouse can match the same basic fonts e.g. Times, Arial Helvetica, used in your file. Always provide every font (screen and printer) with your job even those used in linked or placed graphic files.
~ Images For Complex Displays
When creating exhibit displays e.g. 8 ft high and 10 ft wide, please remember that we print the final output in panels (just like wallpaper) and this requires tiling to create a near-seamless display. Typically files for a standard 8x10’ exhibit can be set up at 25% size and we will print @400% to achieve the final size. However cropmarks must be inserted outside the live image area to denote where panels are to be cut. For example if the 10’ width of the exhibit is split up into 2 two-foot (end caps) and 2 three-foot wide panels, then hairline cropmarks need to inserted @ 6 inches (remember your art is actually 25% of the final size) into the graphic, then 12”, then 21”, then 30”, then 36” respectively. Crops are not necessary at either side (ends) of the art. A background bleed of 0.25” at the sides and bottom of the art is also recommended. After printing and finishing the display art, our finishing personnel will install the panels on your exhibit hardware here at Exhibit Warehouse. This will ensure that a near-seamless display is created and a correct fit is achieved before you take delivery. We also offer on-site installation.
~ Scaling images and proportions
If you request us to scale your work from one size to another, ensure that it is a proportionate enlargement — otherwise cropping will occur. Scaling above 400% is not recommended. Web graphics are created as 72 dpi images for quick access and review on your monitor. Downloaded Website pictures will not look sharp when enlarged to poster size.
~ What you see is NOT what you might get
Not all files that output on your printer will print on Exhibit Warehouse output devices. 99.9% do, but there are rare exceptions. Similarly, if your file does not print on a laser printer, it probably won’t print on one of our large format printers.
~ Keep it clean!
A clean and simple file will output faster and more successfully than a file filled with tiny pictures scaled down from large EPS or TIF files.
